Sure I'm not, but after finding this product in amazon and reading the specifications on the Aiptek web site, I made my decision of purchasing it. The introductory price of $199.00, made my decision a lot easier, but even at the price of $299.99 I would do it. Literally I was waiting for this camera: All the functions I always wanted for less than $300. In my case, "HD" + "External mic jack" +"12x Optical zoom" + Image Stabilizer" are functions I never found at this price range, until now. Just read the specifications and you'll be surprised how many functions this little wonder has. Extremely easy to use. The video quality surpassed my expectations. And as a bonus, in addition to the Video Light, it has a flash strobe to use when you take your pictures. Only two minor cons that does not change my rate: Accessibility of controls: It's size make some times a little hard to use the 5-way joystick, and the buttons for record, play back, menu and mode are sometimes difficult to reach with my thumb. Product Manual: In some cases, the manual is not so specific: just an example... if you set the video resolution to HD 1080i 60f, you can't use the nightshot function. I had to guess it..nothing is mentioned in the included manuals (printed+ PDF version) . Anyway, an excellent product by Aiptek. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. I love this little camera By E. Elizondo I got this on sale for $200.00 during Aiptek's Memorial Day promotion. Definitely a great buy for that price. Pro's: -Ease of use -Great low light sensitivity -Great optics -Compact size -Mini HDMI to HDMI connectivty to HDTV -Aiptek's tech support is superb (First camera I had was glitchy but Aiptek actually tested a new one and replaced it) -Ext Mic Jack -Pause recording feature -Still camera mode w/ "burst" feature (snaps 10 pics in a row, even if you are recording video) -Excellent quality video w/ little or no distortion. Con's: -Ergonomics. Hard to get to the thumb controls unless you strap it to your fingers and not your palm -Sound quality is a bit "tinny" but a good external mic takes care of that (This mic really works well with the camera... GE 98950 Detachable Desktop Microphone) -Battery life is less than what Aiptek states (can get some extra batteries and charger for cheap here on Amazon) -Still picures with telephoto and low light a bit blurry unless you keep camera really really still. -Ext Mic records in mono- and not stereo (but overall sound seems better with ext mic) -Built-in stereo mic on back of view screen. If you flip it, the mic points the wrong way. (Ext mic solves that problem) -Questionable quality. Although my first camera was "glitchy" (see above) my replacment has worked well. Camera body is "plasticky" but parts fit together well. -CMOS sensor, not CCD. Overall, happy with this "go anywhere" camera, now called the AHD-H12 Extreme. At $200.00, it's a steal if you can find it. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Revised by owner: Refurb unit recieved in fine cond. By PETER B. MARTIN At first i was disappointed thinking my camera was defective because the Aiptek AHD-H12 shuts down (AC or with the battery) just after recording a few seconds. After discussing this problem with Aiptek's knowledgeable support staff, they suggested to format the memory (internal and SD). This completely resolved the problem and now it appears I have a fine functional camera. I am pleased with the quality of the camera as it is a few steps above the traditional line Aiptek's consumer handy cams in terms of quality and feature set. The images are clear and very high def. Controls are conveniently located. Battery life untested. External mike port, usb and lenscaps are all sealed to keep out dust and humidity. I like this camera so far. See all 9 customer reviews...

Sanyo Xacti FH1 Highlights High Performance and Stylish Design Made Simple The Dual Camera Xacti FH1 packs high performance, cutting edge technology into a small, stylish, easy to use camera. Designed to fit perfectly in the palm of your hand, the Dual Camera FH1 features an easy to navigate menu which make it a great choice for the beginner and the more advanced user. It is the perfect blend of style, performance, and ease of use. Large, 3-inch Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) The display flips out from the camera and rotates up to 285 degrees on an axis that allows you to take great video or still images from otherwise-difficult-to-view positions, proving to be especially useful when shooting in confined spaces. 8-megapixel Still Image Quality In addition to Full 1080P HD Video the FH1 takes amazing 8 megapixel still photos. With an 8-megapixel (effective) CMOS image sensor the still images can be interpolated to reach 12 megapixel quality. 10x optical zoom (photos)/16x optical zoom (video) The FH1 lens provides a fantastic zooming range for photos with an F=35.7-357mm range (35mm equivalent). For videos, the zoom ranges from F=41.7-666.9mm (35mm equivalent). 12 Subject Face Chaser Technology Recognizes up to 12 faces for videos and still pictures and optimizes focus and aperture settings to ensure all subjects are in focus. Sophisticated image stabilizer Using a proprietary Sanyo algorithm, the FH1 automatically compensates for distracting up-and-down or side-to-side camera movement, keeping your subject steady and easy to follow. It accurately distinguishes between unintentional camera shake and deliberate camera movement. This handy feature operates in both wide-angle and telephoto modes. Sequential photo mode shoots up to 12 frames per second Take pictures like the pros with sequential shooting up to 12 frames per second. The perfect solution for action photography. Highly advanced MPEG4 AVC/H.264 video compression This feature optimizes the file size and makes sharing movies on social networking sites, or e-mailing them to friends and family, even easier. In fact, the file size can be up to 25 percent smaller than that of typical MPEG-4 cameras. To accomplish the complexity of encoding AVC/H.264 in real-time on the FH1, a dedicated H.264 video compression IC was incorporated into the camera that was designed specifically for portable consumer devices. This achieves high video quality while simultaneously reducing the system power consumption. Easily transfer video and still images to your video capable iPod Import video and still image files directly into iTunes software and then port them to your video-capable iPod. Share your latest masterpiece with friends and family. Record over 5 hours of full motion video Using a 16 GB SDHC memory card users can capture over 11 hours and 6 minutes worth of video in standard definition or approximately 1 hour and 28 minutes in full HD video mode. Capture still images while you’re shooting video The FH1 enables simultaneous shooting of video clips and still images with a simple press of the shutter button during the shooting of a movie clip. You will never need to miss another precious photo opportunity. (Depending on the mode used to take still images, simultaneous video clip shooting may be interrupted. While shooting video clips, using the digital image stabilizer may change the angle of view for still images.) Super-fast start-up Reduce your chance of missing the perfect shot. The Dual Camera Xacti FH1 is designed for super fast start-up and shooting. With its tapeless design, the FH1 eliminates the need to queue up a video tape, allowing it to begin shooting in as little as 1.7 seconds! When the FH1 is powered on, closing the LCD display puts it in standby mode. Simply open the display and the FH1 automatically powers up and can begin immediately recording in as little as 1.7 seconds. Includes a high-capacity Sanyo brand lithium-ion battery The DB-L50 is a high capacity battery designed to work with the Sanyo Xacti FH1 camera and delivers approximately 135 minutes of video record time. High-energy density design minimizes the battery size and weight, making it perfect for use in the Sanyo Dual Camera Xacti FH1. The DB-L50 is designed to resist memory accumulation so it provides a full charge every time. Easy playback of recorded video directly on a TV The FH1 camera features a HDMI output which makes connecting it to a digital TV or DVD recorder a breeze. The FH1 can also easily be connected to a computer to back-up copies of recorded content. Still images and video clips are played back continuously and in chronological order. When connected to a PC, simple drag-and-drop operation makes it easy to save recorded video clips and still images onto a computer's hard disk for emailing, editing or archiving.

Most helpful customer reviews 66 of 70 people found the following review helpful. Amazing camera for the price! By KD If money is no object and optical image stabilization is your primary concern, then I recommend you buy the Canon HFS10 or HFS100. Now, with that out of the way, you have to temper your expectations with what you paid for. This camera is at least $600 less than the HFS100 for basically the same image quality minus image stabilization. You will see that I compare this with the Canon a lot because Canon has been king of the camcorder scene for a few years now. Pros: The image quality is almost as good and even better than the Canon in some aspects (based on online reviews as I don't own the Canon). The low light sensitivity is excellent (there is an option to turn up the sensitivity level). The thing we need to keep in mind is this: camcorders are best when used in areas with plenty of light. There is really no reason to film at night unless you absolutely need to. For the times when you want to film the night light or night scenery, this camcorder does its job very well. When hooked up to my 1080p television, the video was spectacular. I can't imagine how much better the Canon would be but I'm very satisfied with this. I know that it's impossible for the Canon to be twice as good as this camcorder for twice the price, at least for me. It is small! I can definitely take this with me on vacation every where I go and not tire out my arms. It's much smaller than I expected, almost like a toy. Having used 5-pound camcorders in the past, this is definitely a good thing. I can now leave my point and shoot camera at home as this substitutes as a regular still camera, hence the dual camera moniker. It takes 8 meg stills (don't use the 12 meg option as that's interpolated) which is impressive for a camcorder this size/price. There are ISO adjustments which I believe is lacking in the Canon. Cons: Image stabilization. If you like to film videos without tripods, monopods then I suggest you stay away from this. However, for under $500, I was able to buy this camcorder and a tripod, 16GB SDHC, and a camcorder bag. No optical stabilization can match a tripod/monopod. If you're serious about creating timeless videos that you can view 20 years from now, you need a tripod. Period. Yes, it would be nice if the image stabilizer was better for the times when I don't have a tripod with me. However, it's serviceable if I hold the camera very steady so it's not as bad as some people would lead you to believe. I don't plan on filming while walking very often so it's perfectly fine. If you have a shaky hand problem and hate tripods/monopods then stay clear. You can mitigate shaking with (1) a tripod, (2) steady hands, or (3) deshaker software (free online). You cannot mitigate $600 or low light sensitivity. No matter what camcorder you buy, you will need a tripod eventually if you're serious about taking good videos. So budget that into your purchase plan. Normally, I would deduct one star for the bad image stabilization, but for a camcorder with superb image quality, low light sensitivity, and the fact that I can throw in a 16GB SDHC, tripod, and camera bag (all bought separately of course) for around $500, it's absurd to dock a star for it. This is the best camcorder for the money. 47 of 49 people found the following review helpful. A Solid 4-star camera. Excellent video quality. Would definitely recommend! By Kiyo M. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R13KU6HS2MB3A9 The test footage (starts around 2:07 in the video - it was shot hand held) has been HEAVILY compressed and resized from 1920x1080! But hopefully, you can still get a general idea, especially the zoom capability. (the open boxing is obviously from a different camera) This camera is really easy to use. I did not have to read the manual, it's really user-friendly, but it's nice that they include an actual manual book for you! (Funny how when I wish I could use a

The camera stand is not very good. The legs are very weak and dont have the strength or setup to balance any reasonable sized SLR camera. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good starter kit By D. C Robertson The bag and card reader are the best items in this kit. The tripod is just ok and has limited usability, but it was essentially free so not a big deal. If you plan to travel much, this bag my not be sufficent for protecting your expensive equipment. If you're looking for a light, backpack style bag to carry on you for the day, this is a good deal. Olympus PEN E-P2 12.3 MP Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 17mm f/2.8 Lens and Electronic View Finder

OLYMPUS 262828 12.3 Megapixel E-P2 Pen Camera Kit (Includes M.Zuiko 17mm lens)

Amazon Sales Rank: #6712 in Camera & Photo Brand: Olympus Model: E-P2 w/ 17mm Dimensions: 4.00 pounds 12.3-megapixel interchangeable lens digital camera; Micro Four Thirds format Includes 17mm f/2.8 lens and Electronic View Finder 3-inch HyperCrystal LCD with Live View function; Continuous Autofocus (C-AF) tracking system Record HD video with high-quality audio; Full Manual Control of shutter/aperture in Movie Mode iEnhance to automatically adjust color and contrast for a more dramatic effect Capture images and video to SD/SDHC memory cards (not included)

The new PEN, like the E-P1, is the world's smallest 12.3-megapixel interchangeable lens system with In-body Image Stabilization. It blends the high-quality still images like that of a DSLR with High Definition (HD) video, stereo Linear PCM audio recording and In-Camera Creativity inside an ultra-portable body. Along with several new features, and eight in-camera Art Filters that can be applied to still images and HD videos, the result is mighty powerful and creative. The innovative E-P2 offers more of what photo enthusiasts have been asking for: A stylish retro black metal body reminiscent of a traditional PEN camera; Accessory port to accommodate the included detachable VF-2 Electronic View Finder (EVF) or optional external microphone adapter EMA-1; A newly-developed Continuous Autofocus (C-AF) Tracking System tracks the subject across or back-and-forward through the frame; Two new art filters: Diorama & Cross Process for greater creative expression in your still images and HD videos; iEnhance to automatically adjust color and contrast for a more dramatic effect; Full Manual Control of shutter/aperture in Movie Mode; and HDMI Control of camera's playback functions using the TV Remote when the camera is connected to an HDTV. Olympus PEN E-P2 Highlights Accessorize: Everything Goes with Basic Black The E-P2 incorporates a new port for connecting new accessories including an optional EMA-1 Microphone adapter and the VF-2 live-finder, a detachable electronic viewfinder that comes with the E-P2. The live-finder easily slides onto the camera's accessory port and hot shoe when needed to provide 1.15x magnification, a 100% field of view with amazing resolution, brightness and contrast. The viewfinder refreshes quickly to minimize image ghosting on fast-moving subjects. The VF-2 rotates up to 90 degrees to enable photographers to look down into it, which is useful when shooting subjects from challenging angles. The built-in diopter adjustment and high magnification offer easy viewing with and without glasses. For those who want to capture enhanced audio, the new EMA-1 external microphone connector can be plugged into the new camera's external accessory port. The connector will accept the optional Olympus ME-51S stereo microphone or any microphone of their choice. Olympus has a variety of other accessories to maximize the functionality of the new PEN, including the previously released 14-42mm and 17mm Micro Four Thirds lenses. The MMF-1 Four Thirds System Lens Adapter makes E-P2 compatible with all Olympus ZUIKO Digital SpecificTM lenses and other Four Thirds System lenses from Sigma, Panasonic and Leica. Olympus OM film-based lenses can be attached to the E-P2 with the MF-2 OM Lens Adapter. Additionally, an optional FL-14 flash unit, suitably small for the camera, adds more lighting versatility to your shots. The E-P2 with optional EMA-1 microphone adapter Stay focused on Your Targets Wherever They Roam Sometimes it can be hard enough to keep up with kids, let alone take pictures of them. The E-P2's new C-AF Tracking and AF Target Registration locks your subject into focus, and constantly adjusts focus and brightness whether you or your subject is moving. With this mode, a simple push of the shutter release enables you to keep fast-moving and unpredictable subjects in focus--tracking subjects from left to right and from front to back--within the frame, automatically ensuring that even active subjects are captured clearly. Even More Ways to Create Olympus pioneered easy-to-use in-camera art filters for still images captured inside its E-System DSLRs. It was the first company to offer the ability to apply art filters to High Definition video recordings captured with the E-P1. Now, the E-P2 continues this tradition of innovation with eight in-camera art filters, including two new filters: the Diorama and Cross Process. The Diorama art filter gives users a miniature model photo feeling by narrowing the depth of focus and enhancing color and contrast. The selective focus that this filter offers lends intimacy to images of even the largest subjects like canyons or cityscapes. The Cross Process art filter offers an unexpected look to images and videos by changing the color and contrast of subjects on the fly. Using this mode can result in surreal other-worldly images. Whether you're a videographer, documentarian or established director--or just want to shoot like one --Art Filters set your images and videos apart from the pack. Since they're built into the camera, you can achieve dramatic results on the go without needing a computer or editing software. These new filters are a welcome addition to the Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale & Light Color, Light Tone, Grainy Film and Pin Hole filters previously available on the E-P1. Because the PEN is an interchangable lens system camera, you also have more creative options for video capture. You can attach any one of the new super-compact Micro Four Thirds lenses or, because the camera can accept many of the other Four Thirds Format lenses with an available MMF-1 Four Thirds System Lens Adapter, you can add anything from an extreme wide-angle fisheye lens to a super telephoto lens for a wide range of expressive options. All the while you will have more DSLR-like control over depth of field, focus, white balance and ISO. It begs the question, "What will you create?" iEnhance for Radiant Colors The E-P2 includes a new picture mode called iEnhance, which analyzes colors and brightness. The new mode mimics what the naked eye sees. For example, a beautiful sunset looks awesome in person and generally seems to fade when captured in an image. With iEnhance, the warm yellow and orange colors are heightened to be brilliant and closer to the actual scene. The result is exceptionally clear imaging with a dramatically lifelike color. iEnhance can be used in any shooting mode--from program to manual--and automatically engages when in iAuto. HDMI Control from Your HDTV Remote The new PEN makes sharing your content easier than ever. Just connect the E-P2 to your HDTV with an optional HDMI cable and use your HDTV's remote to control playback functions and navigate the camera's menus from the comfort of your favorite couch or chair. Manual in Movie Mode The E-P2's manual movie mode allows for independent control of aperture and shutter for expanded exposure and creative control. Now you can adjust the shutter to control the depth of focus while using the aperture to set the overall brightness of the video. This level of control allows you to express your vision exactly how you want in your HD videos. Make a Design Statement The E-P2's high-end, stainless-steel all-black body is easy to handle and carry, and has the styling and refinement of a precision chronometer. Its retro-chic look turns heads, from tech-aficionados and camera buffs to the style-conscious and everyday point-and-shooter. Built rock solid, it fits comfortably in a jacket pocket or a handbag for impromptu street-shooting or any spontaneous adventure. The E-P2 lets you do more and go more places while capturing your life, thanks to its compact size--4.74"(W) x 2.75" (H) x 1.37" (D)--and light 11.1-ounce body. Attention to detail is visible in every aspect of the PEN's design, including the currently available small and lightweight 14-42mm and 17mm M. Zuiko Digital lenses as well as the newly announced 9-18mm f4.0-5.6 (18-36mm equivalent) and 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 (28-300mm equivalent) M. Zuiko Digital lenses. Ultra-Compact Body Delivers Superior Image Quality The E-P2 has everything you need to produce vibrant DSLR-quality images: a large 12.3-megapixel imager, In-body Image Stabilization, fast Imager Autofocus, the proven Olympus Dust Reduction System and the new TruePic V Image Processor. Standard point-and-shoot sensor vs. the PEN E-P2 sensor As the second Micro Four Thirds camera from Olympus, the E-P2 provides the same image quality as current Four Thirds format E-System cameras because it has the same image sensor size as the E-30 and E-620 DSLR models, but in a much smaller body. This high-performance 12.3-megapixel Live MOS image sensor delivers excellent dynamic range, accurate color fidelity, and a state-of-the-art amplifier circuit to reduce noise and capture fine image details in both highlight and shadow areas. The E-P2's Live MOS image sensor is complemented by Olympus' TruePic V Image Processor, which produces clear and colorful photos using all the pixel information for each image to provide the best digital images possible. The image processor is noted for accurate natural color, true-to-life flesh tones, brilliant blue skies and precise tonal expression; it also lowers image noise in photos shot at higher ISO settings (ISO 100 to ISO 6400), enabling great results in low-light situations. Be a Mover, Not a Shaker Any lens attached to the E-P2 will deliver blur-free images thanks to three modes of In-body Image Stabilization that compensate for up to four steps EV (exposure value). Mechanical Image Stabilization automatically compensates for camera shake in low light or when shooting without a tripod. Since the PEN is the world's smallest interchangeable lens camera with In-body Image Stabilization, you'll feel comfortable taking it on the road with you to capture the action. As an added advantage, the built-in image stabilization works not only with the M. Zuiko lenses but all Four Thirds lenses and even older OM film-based lenses when used with the appropriate adapter for the E-P2. Small Real Estate with an Amazing 3-Inch LCD View Consumers accustomed to composing and focusing using a point-and-shoot camera's LCD will appreciate the E-P2's 100 percent accurate, 3-inch full color HyperCrystal LCD, which gives them the same easy, seamless experience when shooting still images or videos. The camera's Live Control function makes it easy to compose, edit and shoot pictures or videos without stopping to access various menus. The E-P2's fast Imager Autofocus in Live View also enables you to compose, focus and capture the shot quickly and easily without ever taking your eyes off the large LCD. The LCD displays 230,000 pixels in vivid color and includes HyperCrystal technology, which offers many times the contrast of conventional LCD monitors for easier viewing in both preview and playback. It also provides a wide viewing angle of 176 degrees, which ensures that images can be composed from even the most obscure angles. This Camera Leaves Others in the Dust You don't have to waste precious time worrying about dust ruining the perfect image; instead, spend more of that time shooting with the E-P2. The proven Olympus Dust Reduction System produces spot-free photos with the exclusive Supersonic Wave Filter, a patented ultrasonic technology that vibrates to remove dust and other particles from the front of the image sensor, capturing it on a special adhesive membrane every time the camera is turned on. What You See Is What You Get When viewing the LCD in Live View, Art Filter effects and settings like white balance and exposure are viewable right on the LCD, and their impact is seen instantly on the display. Real-time monitoring offers amazing versatility and creative control, and users who apply a setting have instant gratification because what they see on the camera's LCD is what they've captured. For musicians used to applying audio effects like reverb to their instruments before recording them, the concept of setting the E-P2 to capture precisely the kind of image they want before they press the shutter makes perfect sense. For imaging purists who want to shoot without filters, and apply them to images inside the camera later, or just edit images back at their computers, the E-P2 provides these options and opens more in-the-field creative possibilities. Mix It Up with Multiple Exposure With the E-P2's Multiple Exposure function available for still image capture, you are free to tell a visual story your way, whether in a portrait, a landscape or a combination of both. The image capture options allow you to shoot one shot, then another and combine them in real time, or capture both shots separately and combine them in the camera later. Overlay your face on top of your pet's face. Create an "identical twin" of yourself. Put the moon in the sky at noon. Your ability to manipulate space and time makes this new creative multimedia device a veritable time machine. Frame Your Works of Art Inside the PEN You can often achieve greater photographic expression by framing a scene in a unique way. The E-P2 provides four aspect ratios that serve as masks to frame your image to the desired proportions, including: the standard 4:3 aspect ratio that is suited to an 8 x 10-inch enlargement; the 16:9 aspect ratio that will display your images beautifully on a widescreen television; and other popular aspect ratios such as 3:2 and 6:6. The Multi-Aspect Shooting further expresses your creative vision when combined with Art Filters and multiple exposures. What will you create? Stereo Audio Sounds As Good As the PEN Images Look Like the innovative Olympus LS-11 portable audio recording device that puts the power of a recording studio in your pocket, the E-P2 features uncompressed CD-quality 16 bit/44.1kHz Linear PCM stereo recording capability to capture the rich sound quality of your scene. When you shoot with the E-P2, it's like having a sound technician built into your camera to capture the nuances of the audio happening all around you. It has the versatility to record and play back in the WAV format and can record with its built-in stereo microphone. Whether recording audio while shooting a video or adding audio by recording a narration to your still images, the E-P2's audio sounds as great as its images look. Now, with the new stereo microphone adapter, there is new freedom in audio capture with the PEN. Create Your Own Multimedia Slideshows with Stills, Video and Audio Inside E-P2 Content is king, and with the E-P2 you have your own portable kingdom of still images, HD video, and audio to remix at your command. In playback mode you can seamlessly mix stills and movies inside the camera to create a multimedia slideshow; dub in one of five built-in dramatic background music options to provide a soundtrack for your cinematic creation. Plug the E-P2 into any HD television with an HDMI cable and show off your masterpieces to your audience before your DVD arrives in stores! As Easy to Use as a Point-and-Shoot with SLR-Quality Technologies The E-P2 is equipped with 19 scene-select modes for effortless picture taking. Standard scene modes like Night-Scene, Portrait and Landscape are easy-to-use solutions for everyday shooting. Capturing beautiful portraits is easy with the new ePortrait Mode. It enables you to smooth your subject's skin--all in the camera and before capture! Additionally, edits can be made post-capture using the ePortrait mode. Shooting scenes with both highlights and shadows can often be a challenge because of the extreme contrast between dark and bright areas. The E-P2 addresses this challenge with Shadow Adjustment Technology that adjusts for extreme light variations and maintains visible detail in both the shadow and highlight areas of the scene. Now users can see and preview the gradation on the Live View LCD and capture images showing the shadow detail they saw. This feature is also accessible in the Edit menu after the shot has been taken. The E-P2's Face Detection reduces the chance of blurred subjects in images by recognizing up to eight people's faces and the background, tracking the faces within the image area, even if people are moving, and automatically focusing and optimizing exposure for sharp, brilliant portrait pictures (ideal for large family or party group photos). Don't like changing camera settings for each shooting situation? The E-P2's Intelligent Auto Mode automatically identifies what you're shooting (Portrait, Landscape, Night + Portrait, Macro, Sports) and adjusts settings to capture the best result depending on the situation. First-time users will enjoy this quick and hassle-free feature, which does the thinking for them and produces incredible images like a pro. The E-P2 offers ease-of-use and flexibility to meet your shooting style. Choose the Live Control technology, an advanced control panel system that incorporates the use of the sub dial and enables you to see the image and the menu controls all at the same time on the LCD. As a result, you can use the main and sub dials to select modes and adjust settings without having to take your eyes off the subject. Or if you prefer, shoot with the Super Control Panel, which is familiar to any serious shooter. These options along with the camera's intuitive button layout make the camera simple to use. The E-P2 records to SDHC media cards to accommodate large files including videos with In-Camera Creative Features and uncompressed audio. Digital Leveler The E-P2 is equipped with an internal Digital Level Sensor that detects the camera's pitch and roll and indicates it on the control panel. This Digital Leveler is a tremendous benefit when capturing architecture and landscapes. Level the perfect coastline shot on your next tropical vacation without being tethered to a computer and editing software. Magnified Focus Assist The E-P2 provides two optional methods to help the user focus: a Magnified Focus (MF) Assist Function and Magnification Display. When using manual focus, the MF Assist feature aids with critical focus by allowing you to zoom in on part of the image by simply turning the focusing ring on the front of the lens. The Magnification Display enables you to selectively enlarge the image on the LCD at the touch of a button. This mode works for both autofocus and manual focus. Both MF Assist methods provide up to a 10x magnification of a single point of the image for critical focus; perfect for macro or still-life photography. 18x18 Metering Modes This mode divides the image area into an 18 x 18 grid, metering each of the 324 separate cells to obtain optimum exposure. In addition to 324-division ESP metering, center-weighted metering and spot metering modes are also available. Olympus Master 2 Software Use the included Olympus Master 2 software (Mac and PC) to easily download images and videos from the camera or other external device, such as a USB drive, and automatically organize them into albums and groups and by date. Develop high-quality RAW images, apply Art Filter effects, edit and print images. Also, apply the most common editing functions to your HD videos. Update camera and lens firmware through the software and download additional menu languages. A direct link makes uploading your images and videos to YouTube easier than ever. Olympus Studio 2 (Trial Edition Included) Extend the capability of Olympus Master 2 with Olympus Studio 2. In addition to the functions of Olympus Master 2, this software includes a lightbox mode and selection marks for comparing and sorting multiple images. RAW processing is enhanced with additional controls for finer adjustments. The trial edition can be used for 30 days after installation. After the trial period has expired, a license key is required for further use. I gave up on digital SLRs for the simple reason that I always ended up only carrying them and their accessories on big occasions or holidays. Result was, I had a camera, but few pictures. Next I bought a good pocket cameras, e.g. Panasonic etc and most recently the Ricoh GX200 which the E-P2 is replacing. These were nice. Picture-taking resumed but slow response compared to DSLRs and overall quality of the finished product always left a slight feeling of disappointment. With imaging chips of the size they use, this is only to be expected (just as compact cassettes by definition could not deliver decent audio). Enter the E-P2 with its much larger sensor. I have had my E-P2 with 17mm pancake lens for a week now and simply love it. Responsive as an SLR, chunky but hardly larger than the Ricoh, it works like a dream in auto and more manual modes. (And who needs a zoom with this kind of resolution? - Just crop the bit you want from the immense pictures it takes). In brief, and avoiding tech talk, this is a quality piece of kit. Looks like quality. Feels like quality. Works like quality. It's an SLR in a pocket camera body. (And - with apologies to the reviewer above - I love the quiet chunky sound and feel of the shutter.) I think I've found 'my' camera at last - at the end of long, dollar-strewn trail!. 37 of 44 people found the following review helpful. Many things to like and dislike at the same time! By Enche Tjin Olympus `PEN' E-P2 is Olympus second micro four third system camera which is an improved version of Olympus PEN E-P1 12.3 MP Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 17mm f/2.8 Lens and Viewfinder (Silver). Both cameras has very similar body design and features. The main different is E-P2 has optional electronic viewfinder and external microphone while E-P1 does not. Because they are very similar, Many part of this review is applicable to E-P1 as well. Olympus E-P2 main specs (shared with E-P1) * 12MP Live Mos sensor 4/3 sensor * HD 720p video at 30 fps with stereo sound recording * Built In Image Stabilization * Dust removal mechanism (SSWF) * Eight Art filters for creative processing and fun (E-P1 has six) * 3 frames per second continuous shooting. * No built-in flash nor AF assist light Below are new features that added to Olympus E-P2 * Manual focus and aperture control in video mode * AF tracking (focus lock for moving objects) * Magnified Focus Assist * Tiltable hi-res electronic viewfinder with 100% coverage and 1.15X magnification * Optional microphone adapter for better sound BODY & CONTROL Olympus E-P2 weights 385 g with memory card and battery. The dimension is 4.74in (W) x 2.75in. (H) x 1.37 in (D) / 120.5 mm (W) x 70mm (H) x 35mm (D) (excluding protrusions). It is significantly smaller than regular DSLR camera. Camera body is around 120g lighter than beginner DSLR camera. It feels solid and dense. If you are coming from compact camera, you will feel this camera a bit heavy. It is around 2-3 times heavier than advanced compact camera. If you are coming from DSLR camera especially from Olympus DSLR camera, you will love the reduction in size. However, this camera is not light. For comparison, E-420 weights 370g and E-620 weights 475g body only. That being said, E-P1/2 is not a pocket-able camera (it will fits only in large jacket/coat pocket). You might find yourself carrying it around more than you carry a DSLR camera, but this camera can't compete with compact camera in portability. Olympus E-P2 construction quality and design are worthy of praise. The outer shell are 85% metal. Plastic are still there for buttons and round dial. Design wise, it is very classy, retro style. I especially like the leather texture grip. However, some people might prefer more industrial design like Leica X1 or Panasonic GF1. It depends on each

Canon EOS 60D Digital Kit By JK Birdman This product was just what i wanted, i've been in photograhy for over 30 years and this is a first class kit for the price and delivery. The lens options are really good and very well priced as a kit. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Canon EOS 60D By Polifimos The camera is simply sensational. The accompanying lenses and goods will accommodate most needs. Only missing component, in my humble opinion, is a solid wide-angle or macro lens, but that would increase the price another $300-$500. This is my first DSLR, however, I thoroughly researched it and have owned and extensively used two very good SLR's and the shift has been rather smooth. The Canon 60D is a great DSLR camera for those amateurs who do not wish to spend Canon 7D money and find the Canon T2i inadequate. Only complain about the experience was that the items were not properly packed, but not enough of a reason to remove a star from the rating scale. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Panasonic HDC-HS250-K Hard Drive High Definition Camcorder (Black)

Full-HD images that bring out all the beauty of your memories. The 3MOS System in HDC-HS250 produces extremely accurate images with superb rendition of differences in darkness and light, rich color expression, and a full 1,080 lines of horizontal resolution.

Amazon Sales Rank: #5892 in Camera & Photo Brand: Panasonic Model: HDC-HS250K Dimensions: .93 pounds Display size: 2.7 AVCHD is a standard developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic for HD digital camcorders. 120 GB Shock-Mounted Hard Disc Drive: Panasonic SD card/hard-drive camcorders are ideal for travel Built-in SD / SDHC Memory Card Drive: SD memory cards are incredibly versatile 3MOS Camera System (3 x 3.05 Megapixels): The HS250 features three of Panasonic's new 1/4.1-inch 3,050,000-pixel MOS sensors. Shoot in Lighting as Low as 1.6 Lux: You can shoot clear shots in lighting as low as 1.6 lx. With the 3MOS Sensor

Full-HD images that bring out all the beauty of your memories. High Definition vs. Standard Definition: What's the difference? HD images contain 6 times as much information as standard images.  HDTV has 1,080 horizontal scan lines, SDTV has 480.  That translates into much higher resolution and much finer detail.  With HD images on an HDTV, pictures are so clear and sharp that you can see textures.  The shift in the industry from SDTV to HDTV is well underway.  For shooting once-in-a-lifetime scenes that you want to capture in full beauty, an HD camcorder is the best choice. 3MOS System for Beautiful Images For videos of important moments you want to preserve, you want high image quality.  That's what Panasonic's 3MOS System delivers, with a combination of optical technologies that further enhance the quality of full-HD images.  The 3MOS System produces extremely accurate images with superb rendition of differences in darkness and light, rich color expression, and a full 1,080 lines of horizontal resolution.  This advanced technology helps turn once-in-a-lifetime moments into vivid, beautiful images. iA (Intelligent Auto) for Smart Control There's nothing more disappointing than shooting a once-in-a-lifetime event on video, only to discover that the images are blurry or poorly exposed because of backlighting.  Panasonic's iA helps avoid problems in difficult shooting situations by automatically making the optimal camera settings and activating certain functions.  For example, iA now includes AF Tracking, a new function that "locks" on and follows a subject as it moves, so images are sharply focused and properly exposed.  This technology is a huge help for everyone. Advanced O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) Panasonic's advanced O.I.S. helps suppress the effects of hand-shake as you shoot, for both motion and still images.  This system uses gyrosensors to detect even tiny amounts of hand-shake, then shifts a lens and adjusts the optical axis to compensate - all at an astounding 4,000 times per second.  It also covers approximately 3 times the stabilization area of our previous SD9 model.  Because the system is optical, there's only minimal loss of image quality even when viewed on a large-screen TV.  In addition, to shoot high-resolution still images, the normal O.I.S. Mode 1 is joined by an O.I.S. Mode 2, which has a higher stabilization capability.  The O.I.S. corrective lens shifts and stabilizes the image the instant that the shutter button is pressed, to enable greater precision in stabilization.  You get all the beauty and minimal blurring.

It's very easy to start operating it even without reading the manual. The touch screen feature is great! You can basically play on the touch screen and see the difference of the picture quality right on the screen. Here's some of the Pro & Con that I think after playing with this camcorder. Pro: -Easy to use -Great video quality (I hook on my Sony 48 inches 1080p LCD screen, the picture looks great!) -Picture quality is great too if you got enough light when using indoor (outdoor, no problem) -Indoor video recording is pretty good using backlight function if indoor light is not enough. -Outdoor video quality is excellent -Digital zooming is great (I can basically zoom in and get so detail that I can see the pore of the person's face right across of the street with 3 traffic lane in between it.) -LCD touch screen is great (you can flip the screen too! You can also use fingernail to touch the screen if your fingertip is too big, the screen don't have any problem recognizing your command.) Con: -Not enough battery life (got around 90minutes of recording, good thing is that you can see how much time you got left on the LCD screen for recording so you'll know when you need to charge the battery or switch to power cord or new battery.) -You cannot charge the battery while using power cord! -The power cord plug on the camcorder is hidden underneath where you put the battery at, so you cannot use both battery and power cord at the same time (very bad when you try to record using power cord, once you accidentally pull the power cord plug, all of the recording stops, and it takes long time for camcorder to get back to recording and it also causes temporary hard drive malfunction while the camcorder trying to recover what you just record.) -You cannot turn on the light that came with the camcorder to do the recording (it's use mostly as flash function when taking picture) So far that's what I thought playing for two weeks (without reading the manual.) 31 of 31 people found the following review helpful. Great camcorder for the price! By Mad Mom I bought this camcorder primarily to videotape my daughter's gymnastics meets. I have recorded two so far and the video quality for those is excellent. The lighting in both cases was bright flourescent lighting like you would find in a high school gymnasium. I made a brief test video in my kitchen at night with just one light on and it wasn't so great. I don't know if this would be a great camcorder for birthday parties and that sort of thing. For that you would be better off getting a camera with 720 HD like the Panasonic DMC-FZ35 for less than half the price. It takes great video in a variety of lighting, but it cannot handle some of the very fast action of gymnastics without blurring. But that's another review! Pros: - Very large (120gb) built-in hard drive. - Available SD/SDHC memory card slot. - Great video in bright indoor or outdoor light - the same video quality as the HDC-HS300 that costs over $1000. - Very easy to use - my 8-year-old was taking pictures and videos and playing them back with no instructions. - Video is very easy to import to iMovie '09 on my iMac - I just attach it using the included usb cable and a window comes up allowing me to choose the clips I want to import. - The image stabilization works well - smooth footage without a tripod. - Zoom is very smooth and adequate. - Great price if you can get it for under 600 dollars. - Display shows how much battery life (in minutes) and how much recording time is remaining. Cons: - Lacks an electronic viewfinder and an external microphone jack - to get those you need the HDC-H300. - Probably not great for low light indoors. - The battery charger/AC adapter are a bit strange but you can live with it - you have to remove the battery to put in the

I love the fact that it has a SD Card, so it is easy to plug into your computer. It captures the light very well. I was suprized of how small it is for a HD camera, quality of the picture is fantastic. The reason why I give it 4 stars, is that you have to be pretty far back, to capture a video up close. I'm a skateboarder, and when I film my friends doing their tricks, I have to be about 15 to 20 feet back, to capture their whole body in the picture. Other than that, it is a pretty good camcorder. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Exactly what you would expect for this low of a price. By Speculant My dad wanted a full HD camcorder for around $150, I looked all over and compared several models of compact camcorders before finally settling on this one. Pros: - Good quality video, although a tad bit grainy. Really though, it's very much above acceptable. - Supports up to 16GB SDHC, which is basically a requirement for HD camcorders. - No lag when paired with a good quality class 10 SDHC card. - Easy to understand controls. - Mini-HDMI out, includes a mini-HDMI to full-HDMI cable. Also has a standard-def output (composite, cable included). - The camera automatically turns on and off when the viewing screen is opened or closed. Also, the viewing screen can turn 270 degrees. - Standard tripod attachment on the bottom of the camera. Cons: - Manual shutter, the shutter doesn't close or open when the camera turns on or off, you have to flip open and close the shutter yourself. - You HAVE to take out the battery to charge it, there isn't a DC-in anywhere on the camera, and the battery only lasts for about 1h30m on a full charge. This means if you want to record something longer than 1h30m, buy an extra battery and have it handy. Overall, this camera is an excellent example of "you get what you pay for". You want something better? Spend more money. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Nice and Lightweight By Joe Got this Camera used from Amazon. Was about 114$. Came in the original packaging with no signs of any sort of use. It's very light weight. The video quality is actually better than expected, with maybe a slightly more than modest expectation. It's got a nice charging mechanism with a very thin battery (probably why it has almost no weight to it). The LDC display turns and can close facing outward. If you close the LCD panel it shuts off which is nice but I'm pretty sure you can change that setting. The package also comes with an HDTV cable. NO external mic jacks which is a minus. But that's my own fault for looking at it the wrong way when I bought it. Over all you get great quality out of this handy little camera with pretty good sound pick up. See all 4 customer reviews...

He really wanted an HD camera that shot in 1080p, and this camera covered that. Plus, it comes with all the accessories you'll need to get filming. We'll need to buy a larger SD card, but that's with any new camera. Very happy with this purchase. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Comes with just about everything you could need for it. By James I was amazed when I got this product, at how many accessories came with it. It is a much better deal than to buy a camera based on a brand name and not have all the accessories that come with it. I tried the camera, and it works fine. The only thing is that I am not sure if my computer can handle High Definition Video, because when it shows up in the media player software, even the one that came with the camera, the video kind of skips like it is still trying to read all the data there. I am not sure if it is anything to do with the memory card or camera, because it shows up fine and does not skip when you do the playback on the camera. When it skips on the computer, it either goes really fast, or really slow. And the sound does not go with the video at the proper time. I am on Windows XP. Maybe if I try it on my mom's macbook pro with Snow Leopard OS X, it would work better. All in all, I like this product. It takes great pictures and video with a lot of different effects and options. Easy to understand touch screen or button menu. Make sure before you take out the memory card from the camera, or insert the memory card, that the battery is out first. It turns on automatically when you open the screen and it says you could lose some data if you tried taking out or inserting the memory card while the camera is on. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. video cmacorder By Charlotte R. Thielen I wouldn't pay too much attention to the negative reviews on this camcorder. It's obvious they are not using it correctly. Granted, this item does not come with a great manual right off the bat, but the full manual is located online. Just google it. A couple of things I've noticed people are forgetting to do before making a review on this product. There is a protective clear sticker on the actual lens. It's virtually invisible. You need to take this off before shooting this camcorder. Trial and error on my part. My first few videos looked like web cam footage only a little better. I was dismayed and thought I had crap in my hands. Then I took off the sticker and it made a world of difference. Talk about clarity! On the side of the camcorder is a switch for macro, portrait, and landscape. I've found the landscape setting to be the most clear, while the macro setting does nicely on your close up shots. I have not had a need for the portrait setting just yet. The image stabalizer works mostly, if you remember to turn it on. For some reason, for me when I shut down the camcorder and turn it back on, it doesn't stay on. So I have to manually turn it on each time. Not a big problem, and I plan on using a table tripod for many of my shots anyways. Sound is loud enough and clear, and it'll do for now. Can't get it all for a hundred bucks, you know? If you're on a budget, but you've got that creative bug inside you, you will really enjoy this product and if done correctly, can put together some real quality videos. 21 of 21 people found the following review helpful. I love my new little camcorder By Kathern Bartlett So after long hours of trying to decide between the mino HD flip(209.99$) and Kodak Zi6(159.99$), i went to best buy to actually hold them in my hands and see if that made a difference. I didn't want to pay $210. for the flip, since it's sound wasn't as good and it worked better inside then the Kodak Zi6 but not as well outside. but i liked that the flip was soo small and battery life was supposed to be oustanding. As i am pondering which one to choose my husband, being the curious person he is points out the Insignia 5.0 megapixel camera. I was a little scared because it was insignia but decided to look at it anyway. (not that insignia is bad, but i had read reviews on here)Boy am i glad i looked at the insignia. I love the fact that it has a big screen that flips a lot of different ways. UNLIKE the other two it has a light you can turn on or off when recording, It has an 8X zoom, it can be changed from sepia, to natural, to black and white, it also has white balance, sharpness and image stabilization. It is roughly the size of the old flip and extremely light. It also comes with all the cables, to hook it up to your tv, to charge it in the wall or by computer. also you can do still pictures with 5x megapixels, but i won't be using it for that so i don't care. Nice that the option is there though. I've read that a lot of people don't like it because it is grainy when watched inside. I don't believe it is any worse then the other two (mino HD and Kodak Zi6) plus it's considerbly cheaper. 99.00 and around 20. for a 4gb sd card. The camera may not be AS easy as the MINO hd but nothing of 5 minutes of playing with the buttons won't fix. If you are looking for a superior camera this isn't for you. but if you are looking for a gift for a teen grandchild or somthing to record random stuff for fun then this is perfect for you. i'll update the review later to see if i can find any negatives. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Sophisticated image stabilizer Using a proprietary Sanyo algorithm, the TH1 automatically compensates for distracting up-and-down or side-to-side camera movement, keeping your subject steady and easy to follow. It accurately distinguishes between unintentional camera shake and deliberate camera movement. This handy feature operates in both wide-angle and telephoto modes. While shooting video clips, using the digital image stabilizer may change the angle of view for still images.) Super-fast start-up Reduce your chance of missing the perfect shot. The Dual Camera Xacti TH1 is designed for super fast start-up and shooting. When the TH1 is powered on, closing the LCD display puts it in standby mode. Simply open the display and the TH1 automatically powers up and can begin immediately recording in as little as 1.7 seconds. The DB-L50 is designed to resist memory accumulation so it provides a full charge every time. Easy playback of recorded video directly on a TV The TH1 camera features a HDMI output which makes connecting it to a digital TV or DVD recorder a breeze. The TH1 can also easily be connected to a computer to back-up copies of recorded content. Still images and video clips are played back continuously and in chronological order. When connected to a PC, simple drag-and-drop operation makes it easy to save recorded video clips and still images onto a computer's hard disk for emailing, editing or archiving.

I was looking for a camcorder that was HD "quality", uses SDHC memory card and for a price around $300. The Sanyo met all the criteria so I purchased it from Amazon. I also picked up a 16 gb Transcend memory card. Let's go over the PROS first -- . ++ It is really easy to use. Just point and shoot. Just like using a digital camera, except it's a digital video camera. ++ Having the memory card is so much better than using mini-DV tapes. There is no longer a need to plug the camcorder into your computer fireport or USB port. After I am done shooting, I just pop out the memory card, put it in my memory card reader and copy it onto the hard driver. Doesn't get much better than that! ++ Transferring files are a lot faster than mini-DV tapes. Before, you had to play/record in real time. Due to fact that everything is digital, the transfer is quite fast! ++ Battery life is very good. You can get around 200 minutes of video time. I also like the fact that the battery indicator tells you the approximate MINUTES left. I hate it when they just show a battery symbol and start deducting "spaces/icons" from the battery. I need to know the numerical time value, which this camera provides ++ YouTube uploads are amazingly easy. Just click on the file you want to use, and upload. Make sure you watch in HQ quality on YouTUbe ++ Size is perfect. It's a lot smaller than my mini-DV camcorder, but not too small where it feels like a toy. ++ Build/Construction. I bought the blue version and the blue looks very good. It feels solid in your hands and appear that it could take some abuse. It's not too light and not too heavy. It just feels good in your hands. ++ Quality - overall, quality of the video is good for a $300 video camera. You cannot expect true HD quality from this. However, I do have a problem with the focus (see the CONS below) . OK - here's the CONS . - Focus ---- the although the camera has face recogition, there is no way to "lock" onto one person. In other words, if there are 3 or 4 people in the same shot, the camera tends to jump around with the focus between the different faces and it gets annoying during playback. It seems like the camera keeps searching for the right focus. If there is a way to "lock" onto a face, please let me know so I can use that feature. - Indoor quality not good. There seems to be more noise than usual while shooting indoors. Of course, I should have turned on more lights indoors but I am still working on improving my indoor shots. . Would I buy this camera knowing what I know? Absolutely!! The price is right. If they could fix the focus issue, this camera would have met all my expectations 36 of 37 people found the following review helpful. Not all HD is equal: good camcorder for beginners, but don't expect too much from the "HD" imagery By Nathan Andersen Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3S3WKDOROWY9V The specs for this camcorder are exciting; the images, sadly, are not really much better than standard definition images. If you want something to capture video for the web, and that allows you to do more tweaking than you can with simpler camcorders like the Flip Mino, then this would not be a bad choice. Just don't expect it to give you truly high quality images. Also, the onboard memory holds next to nothing, so when buying this camcorder you should factor in the price of at least an 8GB SDHC card to store the video you shoot. Overall, I think this would be a very good camcorder for beginners, since it is easier to work with flash memory than to mess around with tapes, and since practicing with the functions here will prepare one for using a more advanced camcorder when the time comes (and the budget allows). It does look good, and is fairly well designed. For many purposes this would be just the thing. I shot

I owned the HDR-XR500V which I absolutely loved. In addition to all the great features on the HDR-XR500V, the HDR-XR550V includes an electronic viewfinder and also provides manual shutter speed control. It also offers a non-native 60p output option and in-camera standard definition downconversion. The latter is an especially welcome addition, giving users the ability to record and archive their footage in the highest quality, then export and edit with the smaller, more manageable MPEG-2 files. Perhaps the most exciting new feature on the HDR-XR550V is the new memory card slot: a single slot that is compatible with both Memory Stick PRO Duo cards and traditional SD/SDHC cards. This new slot will be featured on Sony's entire Handycam lineup this year, giving users unprecedented flexibility in sticking with Sony's proprietary memory format or opting for the more univeral SD/SDHC cards. I personally love the GPS tagging feature, although I wish it would offer more detailed maps. The HDR-XR550V has increased hard drive capacity to 240GB, which gives me plenty of recording time. 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Great camera for the price, hard drive is awesome By W. Savoy I bought this camera to accompany my other Sony Z1U which shoots HD on HDV tapes using the HDV compression. This camera records the newer AVCHD compression onto a 240 GB hard drive, which is absolutely awesome. Even at the highest quality setting, I could record over 1900 minutes before having to delete anything. And when you're ready to capture, simply hook it up with USB, and your computer recognizes it as a disc. To edit the footage, you will need to convert the footage into Apple ProRes or Apple Intermediate Codec (if using a Mac, of course). Macintosh can not, at the time of writing this, edit the AVCHD footage NATIVELY (i.e. without converting it). I hear the new Final Cut 8 which is coming out soon should be able to do it. For the Windows users, I have a friend who edits ACVHD using a Pinnacle System and he doesn't need to convert. The quality is GREAT- actually is sharper and looks better than my Sony Z1U, which cost $5000 when I bought it 4 years ago. Go figure. I definitely recommend this camera. I bought it to experiment with the new codec and planned to return it, now I think I'm going to keep it as a second cam. I love not having to record to tape all the time. It's so easy to capture! Get one! 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful camera By Claudius I've had this camera for three months now and highly recommend it. The HD video quality (I only use the FX 24 Mbps mode) is stunning. I sometimes think the video is even more realistic looking than the actual scene being shot. I have added a Rode Stereo Video Mic and Vortex Warm Cards to good effect. I would like to have more independent manual control over focusing, exposure, white balance, etc. It is possible to manually adjust these settings but there is only a small multipurpose rotary knob for this purpose. Also, you can't simultaneously adjust both aperture and shutter speed. A larger lens would be nice, native progressive mode framing, and XLR microphone inputs. In order to get these features, you would have to spend a few thousand dollars more. I do have a quibble about the "12 Megapixel" still photos this camera is supposed to be able to shoot. Something is missing in them. The stills even lack the depth and vibrancy of the HD video the same camera produces. My wife's 3.3 megapixel camera (a Sony) produces much better stills. It wouldn't bother me a bit if Sony had simply not included a still photo option. See all 15 customer reviews...
