Sure I'm not, but after finding this product in amazon and reading the specifications on the Aiptek web site, I made my decision of purchasing it. The introductory price of $199.00, made my decision a lot easier, but even at the price of $299.99 I would do it. Literally I was waiting for this camera: All the functions I always wanted for less than $300. In my case, "HD" + "External mic jack" +"12x Optical zoom" + Image Stabilizer" are functions I never found at this price range, until now. Just read the specifications and you'll be surprised how many functions this little wonder has. Extremely easy to use. The video quality surpassed my expectations. And as a bonus, in addition to the Video Light, it has a flash strobe to use when you take your pictures. Only two minor cons that does not change my rate: Accessibility of controls: It's size make some times a little hard to use the 5-way joystick, and the buttons for record, play back, menu and mode are sometimes difficult to reach with my thumb. Product Manual: In some cases, the manual is not so specific: just an example... if you set the video resolution to HD 1080i 60f, you can't use the nightshot function. I had to guess it..nothing is mentioned in the included manuals (printed+ PDF version) . Anyway, an excellent product by Aiptek. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. I love this little camera By E. Elizondo I got this on sale for $200.00 during Aiptek's Memorial Day promotion. Definitely a great buy for that price. Pro's: -Ease of use -Great low light sensitivity -Great optics -Compact size -Mini HDMI to HDMI connectivty to HDTV -Aiptek's tech support is superb (First camera I had was glitchy but Aiptek actually tested a new one and replaced it) -Ext Mic Jack -Pause recording feature -Still camera mode w/ "burst" feature (snaps 10 pics in a row, even if you are recording video) -Excellent quality video w/ little or no distortion. Con's: -Ergonomics. Hard to get to the thumb controls unless you strap it to your fingers and not your palm -Sound quality is a bit "tinny" but a good external mic takes care of that (This mic really works well with the camera... GE 98950 Detachable Desktop Microphone) -Battery life is less than what Aiptek states (can get some extra batteries and charger for cheap here on Amazon) -Still picures with telephoto and low light a bit blurry unless you keep camera really really still. -Ext Mic records in mono- and not stereo (but overall sound seems better with ext mic) -Built-in stereo mic on back of view screen. If you flip it, the mic points the wrong way. (Ext mic solves that problem) -Questionable quality. Although my first camera was "glitchy" (see above) my replacment has worked well. Camera body is "plasticky" but parts fit together well. -CMOS sensor, not CCD. Overall, happy with this "go anywhere" camera, now called the AHD-H12 Extreme. At $200.00, it's a steal if you can find it. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Revised by owner: Refurb unit recieved in fine cond. By PETER B. MARTIN At first i was disappointed thinking my camera was defective because the Aiptek AHD-H12 shuts down (AC or with the battery) just after recording a few seconds. After discussing this problem with Aiptek's knowledgeable support staff, they suggested to format the memory (internal and SD). This completely resolved the problem and now it appears I have a fine functional camera. I am pleased with the quality of the camera as it is a few steps above the traditional line Aiptek's consumer handy cams in terms of quality and feature set. The images are clear and very high def. Controls are conveniently located. Battery life untested. External mike port, usb and lenscaps are all sealed to keep out dust and humidity. I like this camera so far. See all 9 customer reviews...
