The Canon HS SYSTEM takes the frustration out of low-light shooting, delivering clear, blur-free shots with all the ambiance intact, and freeing you from the sometimes unwanted effects of using the flash. Beautiful low-light shots are possible at both low and high ISO speeds, and the dynamic range is expanded to retain maximum detail in highlight and shadow areas. The system is the result of two technologies brought together in this compact PowerShot. The first is the 12.1 Megapixel CMOS Sensor, which positions the light-receiving surface for optimal light reception. More light means clearer, blur-free images with plenty of detail and nuance, even in dark areas. Working together with the CMOS sensor to deliver the HS SYSTEM is Canon's advanced DIGIC 4 Image Processor, which actively reduces noise and delivers high speed image processing. Canon’s HS System provides dramatically greater sensitivity than your average camera with identical or greater megapixel counts. Gebauer I am a professional digital SLR that shoots and has managed a camera store in the past. I wanted something I could take everywhere, but still good quality pictures. I also wanted a good looking video camera that could shoot. I researched different models, and after much deliberation decided the Canon HS 300. I am very glad I did. Image quality: I tested cameras and lenses at all times when handling the camera store so if I get a new camera or lens to buy, I always test. Canon HS 300 is not the quality of the photos with my Nikon D7000, but I did not expect it. The edges are a little soft at 300 HR if you look at the image at 100%, while the D7000 pictures are almost as sharp. Comparing the Canon Powershot SD1000 the HS 300 for a few years ago, the 300 HS blow out the water. The SD1000 is a 7-megapixel camera to shoot the same shots on a tripod with the same focal length HS 300 uses its other members as well. When looking at the images from each camera 100% zoom setting at wide angle and zoom normal atmosphere, both cameras have the same light sweetness at the edges. However, the HS 300 has more MP, so that it actually produces much more detail in the image. I think it was wise for Canon to keep the item 12, because the models in recent years, while 14 MP (SD1400) gave no further details of the one thing I could say that version 12 MP (SD1300). The SD1400 is basically just to create large files. In a tele-zoom in the HS 300 is a much sharper image than the SD1000. Cameras often have soft spots in the zoom area in which they will produce sharper images. The SH 300 is still a good sharpness throughout the zoom range. HS System and ISO: The image processing system with the GS really works to reduce noise at higher ISOs for people to produce better pictures in low light to improve the image quality is more visible every time the higher the ISO. ISO 400 with the HS 300 is almost as good as ISO 200 on the SD1000. ISO 800 on the HS 300 is a bit better than ISO 400 on the SD1000. ISO 1600 in the HS 300 is between 400 and ISO 800 on the SD1000. HS 300 to ISO 3200 in the same image quality (noise) as ISO 800 on the SD1000. A two-stop improvement in film speed is great. 1080p video and slow motion: With good light, the HS 300 delivers excellent 1080 fluid video. If you look at a lot of HD videos from the video compact cameras often seems nervous. From what I saw was not until you reach the Canon G12 or Panasonic LX5 the video looked smooth. Both cameras just to shoot this camera shoots 720p to 1080p. The video also really good detail. It really is HD, if you want and continuous autofocus zoom with video from this camera is the one you want compared to the HS 100 that enables zooming. Continuous AF with face detection is stellar with this camera in video mode. I videoing my wife while she was driving. It focused on the face. I switched to the outside landscape. He focused directly on it. Then I turned to my wife and found his face and focused on the immediate. I filmed even his reflection in the mirror and found his face in the mirror there is no problem and focused on it. Unbelievable! Commenting on a complaint I read about the slow zoom in video mode. If you like to get motion sickness quickly every time someone is approaching or retreating in the video is not the camera. As smooth as watching video, zoom, too. Create a nice smooth zoom transitions instead of seeking full speed ahead seen. The slow movement is a fun feature that works well. You need good light, but in low light conditions, even with high ISO is that it produces very dark video. In a review that someone pointed out to him.
