Carlson OK, I really want the Canon S8100 RED but is apparently available only in black, if you buy it directly from Nikon. I decided to go black because I live in Oregon, where there is no added tax, tax and Nikon wanted $ 10 for shipping. Black is not so bad anyway, and she is doing in my PC case Cooler Master HAF-X. I am a Sony DSC-V1 upgrade. The size of the Nikon is a bit wider, shorter hair, and about half the thickness. The DSC-V1 has a flash-PO puppies in the same area that the S8100 so I was used to hold the camera in the right direction already. For those of you who can not think outside the box, this camera the right way to keep a gun with your hand is your left thumb pointing up, then bend the wrists so that the gun shows on the right side , then set the camera in the gun. RTFM. This tip was printed (and photo) in the Quick Start booklet that came with the camera as you used to it, you will not mind pop-up flash at all. The only problem you'll have is if you have good friends pictures of yourself with it and hold down the flash, do not know better. The downgrade of 8000 features 14 megapixel CCD S8100 12-megapixel CMOS sensor is not a downgrade at all. Megapixels are almost irrelevant to the point and shoot camera over 12 anyway, and picture quality increases and improvements in low-light you get with the CMOS sensor 2 megapixel EASY asset increase. I remain amazed at how well my photos are displayed, under all lighting conditions. The 10x optical zoom is good, but what's amazing how clean the digital zoom is longer than that. I'm used to faint or blurred images when using the digital zoom, this camera gets around it somehow. The location of the zoom button forces you to use your right index finger instead of thumb that I'm used to that I felt a bit "weird at first, but it makes perfectly logical sense from the ergonomic point of view when you hold the camera correctly . On the opposite side, function macro floored me. For a point and shoot camera, I was not expecting this good a macro. And 'macro shots better than my Cannon DSLR. I can rest the lens on the object that I shoot and the picture will still be well focused. LCD screen on the back is a typical "screen 3, but a solution of very high quality untypically. It has the highest resolution screen at any point and shoot I could find. You can really see the details of what you want to continue with it. And 'bright and the colors are correct. The 1080p video, this camera produces is better than I expected. much better. You can use the zoom function while rolling and take still pictures simultaneously. It also detects in a healthy Stereo. Great stuff. Some complain that this device is a bit 'too big for their taste, though it was small as it is now, would not be able to hold it without the key by accident or something, and fits in the pocket of my property. These people must have their fingers or toothpicks do not realize that much smaller than the S8100 is really much more, unless you're some sort of secret spy or something. The camera has all the basic features you want, and many who are a little 'attention. Flight manual brightness, color and brightness settings can be convenient, the function transforms the skin softening subjects super models, and ISO sensitivity range is above average. It has an option to reduce wind noise while taking video and all the frequently used functions are easily available. I know that sounds like a Nikon fanboy now, but I am so happy with this unit. The only thing I can think of is that I do not care about the rubber that connects to the USB port on the bottom of the camera, I prefer a flip door, but this is just my preference. Comes with a surprisingly good version of the image.
