Carlson OK, I really like the Nikon S8100 RED but apparently only black is available unless you buy it directly from Nikon. I decided to go black because I live in Oregon where there is no sales tax, and tax and Nikon was going to add $ 10 for shipping. Black is not so bad and she is still looking at my PC case Cooler Master HAF-X. I am upgrading from a Sony DSC-V1. The size of the Nikon is a bit 'wider, shorter hair, and about half the thickness. The DSC-V1 is a flash-PO puppy in the same area that the S8100 so I was used to hold the camera in the right direction already. I continue to be amazed at how well my photos taken resulting in all light levels. The 10x optical zoom is great, but what is surprising is how to clean the digital zoom is beyond that. I'm used to fuzzy or blurry images when you use the digital zoom, but this camera is something about this. The placement of the zoom lever requires that your right index finger instead of thumb that I'm used to use to feel a bit strange at first but makes complete logical sense of an ergonomic point of view, if you are holding the camera correctly. On the opposite side, a function of macro-floored me. For a compact, I did not expect a macro of the property. This macro shoots better than my Canon SLR. I can rest the lens to the object I'm from and the image will always be in focus. The LCD on the back is a typical 3 "screen, but a high-definition atypical. The only thing I can think of that I do not care for the bump rubber is that it connects to the USB port at the bottom of the camera I prefer a flip door, but this is just my preference.
